We Return Rings by Fred Booth
Saturday morning the 6th of July I was at Newport Beach Pier at 0550 in the morning. One of the first people on the beach that day. Using my PI Pro headed towards the surf and began detecting in a pattern from the high tide mark to ankle deep in the very small surf. Using a long handled heavy duty scoop that I purchased in Florida I dug my very first signal standing in about a foot of water and it turned out to a 10k white gold class ring. This man's ring, made by Jostens, was for the year 2002, from a school in Indio, CA with the mascot being a Rajah. The name Ruben B. Rodriguez was engraved inside the band. The ring was brand new not even scratched. I suspect it was lost either on the 4th or 5th of July. Contacted Jostens on the telephone at 800-845-9354 on Monday the 8th. Jostens called Ruben on the telephone and he called me all within a 15 minute time frame. He was real happy about hearing that I had found his ring. He asked me if I could mail the ring to him as he lived in Indio Hills out by Palm Springs, CA and was working six days a week. Tried to get some details from him about the ring but he had to go to work. Did learn that the ring cost him $400.00. He said he would call me back when he receives the ring in the mail. On the 11th I mailed the ring to him, return receipt requested and insured. Cost me $8.50 to do this but I wanted to make sure he got the ring. Sent him a note with some questions about the ring and when he lost it along with a self -addressed stamped envelope hopefully so he will answer my questions and return my note back. Fastest lost, found and returned ring I've ever been involved with.
